Never too early…

Christmas is a word feared my many, but in the crafting world it is used all year round, sometimes there is not even much point in putting your Christmas crafts away in a dark hidden corner, because there is only around a 4 month ‘down’ period. But when Christmas images are as cute as this one I don’t mind really 🙂

This weeks Polkadoodles theme is Christmas but not a card. That is 100% up my street, I love making bags, home decor pieces and gifts 🙂 I decided to make a handbag style gift bag this time 🙂

I used red card to make the base of the bag and green to make the top flap over the bag. I covered these with the papers from www.polkadoodles.co.uk/printable-papers-1-winnie-white-christmas-digi-downloads/ and left a small neat border around.

I decided to use the Christmas Stamp from www.polkadoodles.co.uk/winnie-winterland-polar-friends-digital-craft-stamp-download/ which is possibly the cutest image I’ve ever seen, as the join from bag base to top/flap. I have coloured them in with my alcohol markers.

I wanted a handle on the bag, I decided to add some lovely ribbon, a few sparkly gems and a twine wrapped bow. Then to finish off the bag, I added a couple of gift tags from www.polkadoodles.co.uk/winnie-winterland-tags-frames-digital-craft-papers-download/

I hope you like it.

Miss You

Well I think it might be day 1000 of Lockdown and I do hope we all are staying safe.

The project this week for Polkadoodles has been Miss You. This has been ideal I think for a theme as no matter who we are or whats we are or are not doing we all miss someone.

I made this card with a fun ‘pull’ element which reveals a cute cat holding the ‘miss you’ sign.

I started this card, by folding a piece of A4 kraft card into a card blank. It has then been matted with a piece of blue card and then a piece pf starry card, that has been printed from the Little Monsters collection. I love how versatile this collection is.

Next was to cut and colour the stamp, I adore this stamp as I am a massive cat lover, and my mum adores Hot Air Balloons so I thought it was a good match. It has been fussy cut and then the sign attached under his paws, by fussy cutting the paws and sliding the sign under.

The cat image has been placed behind the white clouds, that have been cut from white card stock and given faux stitching. This provides a place so the cat and ‘miss you’ sign can be hidden.

The ‘friends’ sentiment has then been attached to the front of the clouds, its just such a lovely saying and fits in with the Hot Air Balloon image.

The ‘Friends’ and the ‘miss you’ sentiment is from the quotes collection.

I have then finished off the card with a little ‘pull’ sign for the image with some twine and little pearls to decorate.

Hope you like this card and that you are all staying safe 🙂 xo

Christmas in July :)

Yes thats right, Christmas for us crafters has started. Times are a little unusual right now, so having the comforting christmas word being used in the crafting community is a nice little comfort blanket.

My project for Polkadoodles this month, is a star card. I love making these, as they look so effective and pretty when standing on a mantle piece or shelf.

This card is made from a red piece of 6×12″ folded to make a 6×6″ card blank, then the corners are cut away to make a triangle card blank and 2 triangle pieces that have been cut away.

The triangular card base and the 2 triangular pieces has been matted with white card stock and the lovely printable polkadoodles papers.

The two triangular pieces have then been stuck together to form a star shape, and the now triangular card base, has two slits cut in at the edges to act as a stand and that is what the star shape slides into.

The stamped image, has then been printed on white card and coloured in using my alcohol markers, its just such a fun image. I love the cuteness of it. 🙂 It represents the fun of Christmas. This has been added to a gold doily and a die cut scalloped white and red circles to add some depth and interest.

The tag has then been printed and then cut out to act as a sentiment for the card.

I am a little addicted to twine so then, twine was added to finish off the tag and a couple of gold gems were added to finish off the card.

I love how simple this card starts as, just one main piece of red card stock, and it just builds up and becomes magical.

It was such a pleasure making this card for Polkadoodles, and I cant wait for the next one 🙂

Thanks again. xo

Polkadoodles… lets meet soon

Well yes, another lockdown post. Hope we are all keeping safe and well and looking after each other. One of the big things I was excited about with the easing of lockdown is catching up with friends, theres only so much texting and out of focus video calls a girl can handle.

One of my favourite things to do is meet for breakfast/brunch and yes pancakes do count as a meal 🙂 I thought it would be a lovely idea to use this time to invite friends to meet up in a fun and different way by making a piece of home decor, to remind them they are loved, and yes you must meet soon!!!

This week I made this fun wreath, from white card circle, that has the printable papers torn and glued to it to add a vintage look to the piece, these were simply printed out on white 120gsm paper and torn, to reveal the white core of the paper and glued onto the circle.

The ring was formed by cutting a ring out of 300gsm White card stock and was added onto the front of the torn paper circle, with foam pads to add dimension.

I then fussy cut the digi stamp, after it was printed and coloured in with my alcohol pens. I added her with foam pads to add even more dimension onto my wreath. It was then that I added the tree and butterfly to provide a backdrop.

An idea then came to me to make a little bunting garland at the top of my project, as where we go for breakfast with friends has bunting up, and all our houses have bunting up in every nook and cranny. So I cut triangles out of the printed papers and added them to some nude twine and popped it into the corner of the wreath, and yes very pleased with the result. 🙂

I finally fussy cut and made up my own sentiment ‘lets meet soon’ using the printable alphabet.

Gems and faux stitching were added as a final flourish with a ribbon hanging hook.

This lockdown and pandemic has definitely reminded us to try and talk more to loved ones and treasure what we all have.

Hope you like it 🙂 xo

Polka Doodles Fairy Penny Slider

We all love faires!!! I made this card, and in co-operated a Penny Slider element, which I have not made in a while and to be honest I have no idea why I have not made them all the time.

I made this card using the Serenity Fairy Digi Stamp from Polkadoodles, coloured in with my Arteza Colouring Pencils and fussy cut it to make this cutter topper.

I also mat and layered this card with Polkadoodles papers, and made a rosette up to add to the top corner.

The Penny Slider element, has been made using nesting star dies and a couple of pennies J The star shape, I thought gave the card an extra special touch, or shall I say Fairy Dust. The topper, which is the cake that is the part that slides around the star, which was fussy cut and attached.

I added a cute sentiment and that finished the card off lovely.

Harry Potter Themed Card

This is something a little different for me, as there was no colouring, no stamping…

But yes I managed to squeeze in some die cutting of circles and some mats and layers.

I do a Birthday card every year for a friends child and this year it was Harry Potter that was requested by his Grandma. He is 11 now and I wanted something a little different, so since I am not a big HP fan I had a quick google and decided on this abstract version of a card.

I simply cut out a hair line style from black card and added it to a white piece of card, I then cut out a lighting shape from gold mirri to act as his scar (that at least I knew about him without looking…).

I then added some circle die cuts in black card and made glasses out of them, with the infamous plaster holding them together, I made it out of a distressed piece of card, that I inked with Momento ink, cant remember the name.

Last but not least, I added a scarf with the HP colours and a quick Happy Birthday sentiment and an age badge 🙂

Very different for me but I enjoyed it 🙂 Hope they like it when they receive it 🙂 x

Hippo Love

When I saw this Digi-Stamp, I fell in love and it was very tough to not buy the entire range and to be fair every time I go onto the Polka Doodles site, I struggle to not buy every item going. I took advantage of the 35% off code I was emailed and I bought a couple of Digi-Stamps.

Heidi the Hippo, has to be one of the sweetest things I have seen, and I have a sweet tooth lol. I printed them out and immediately started colouring. This one has been coloured in with my Chameleon Pens and cut out using a stitched nesting die and added onto a 5.5×5.5″ card blank I made using a yellow/cream piece of 270gsm card stock and added some gold mirri and floral papers for some added cuteness. I also added onto some riff raff behind Heidi and finished it off with some small pearl gems and a ‘hello’ sentiment I made with my We are Memory Keepers Punch Board.

Hope you like it and are staying safe. xx

Polkadoodles Digi Hero

I have had this card made for a while and now the recipient has recieved it, I can upload it here.

I got the Digi-stamp for free from Polkadoodles, which is fab!!! The Winnie Collection is free at the moment, which is a lovely thing form them to do as we all want to be able to Thank our real life heroes, especially in this current climate.

I wanted to make the card simple and such to put a smile on their face, its a small ray of positive in these times.

I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed making it. xx

Simply Made Backpack…

I was lucky enough to win a selection of prizes from Craft stash’s 5th Birthday card competition, where I entered a card covered in coloured Jelly Babies and Lollypops, photos of it are in the Sweet Treats post.

In these prizes, was something I had had my eye on for a while now and I was so grateful to get in as a prize. It was the Simply Made Crafts by Helen Griffin Backpack Gift Bag Die Set.

It is a collection of dies that form a Gift Bag/Box. I adore making these style of bags and having them to make a display or giving them away to friends and family. People who loved bags, adore these as they look so real. So when I saw these dies, I instantly turned on my Cut ‘n’ Boss and got to work.

I wanted to go with a Tropical theme, as I just had picked up the Papercrafter Magazine, which issue 148, had a free gift of stamps, embossing folder and papers. I love anything Tropical and I love Backpacks, so it felt right to put these together.

The Simply Made die sets, come with clear instructions so it was simple and straightforward to put together once I had die cut the pieces.

I embossed the panel on the front from yellow card, and coloured it with my Distress Oxide Inks, I used Carved Pumpkin, Cracked Pistachio and Picked Raspberry.

I love this bag and the die set is purely and simply magical.

Hope you are all well and staying safe.

xx

Mer-mazing

Hope you are all well.

I am having fun trying new card designs out whilst waiting for bread to prove…(yes a new hobby, since I have been able to find flour and yeast again, telling you its gold dust!)

This is a mermaid themed card Ive made following the Positively Papercraft Fun Fold card. Ive used gold mirri with striped and spotty papers that I got in the Crafters Companion Magazine (latest one I think)

The stamps are from Jojos DreamLand, that I picked up in the sale from The Range. The sentiment is from Trimcrafts Mermaid Die set.

Hope you like xo
